Comment left Sep 09, 2008: "I do not like my name, I am 24 and EVERY grade from Kindergarten thru high school even into some places I worked there is always another Jessica....I went by Jesse thru alot of school just so I didn't have to put a last name initial on everything. This issue I have had my whole life caused me to name my daughter a more uncommon name. Any future children I will do the same, the more unique the better. I never had another one in my grade at school, actually no others in my whole primary school at all and only two othes in my whole high school (2000 students). It got really common in the 90s though and I was constantly hearing my name being shouted at toddlers going wild in the shopping centre. It's funny that someone said they can always find merchandise with 'Jessica' on - my only problem is that they're always sold out!! My family mostly call me Jessie, my friends all call me Jess (and so do some strangers!) but I always introduce myself as Jessica. I like my name and wouldn't change it for the world. I was born and grew up in Italy where the name was not used much at the time so it was spelled with a G and I always had to correct the people and say it was spelled with a J. See, in Italy J is not really used as a letter and they would pronounce it as if it were an I. Then when we moved to the U.S. it seems one out of five people had my the name Jessica. I would hear my name called and when I would turn around to see who was calling me, it would end up being another Jessica who they were calling. Then... when someone was calling me, I would assume they were probably calling another Jessica. What a mess. I used to hate my name but now it is just part of me and I wouldn't change it for anything. However I don't like it enough that I would name my child after me." (Report as inappropriate)

One of my best friends has the same first and middle name(Marie) and our last names sound alike and start with the same two letters! (I was born in 1979) Then as I got older I found out that my parents named me after the Allman Brothers song, "Jessica".
