User Comments about the name Emelia

Comment left Jan 02, 2009: "My name is also Emelia. I was named after my great grandmother, I have only met one other person who spelled her name the way I do, other than my great grandmother. I get lots of compliments on how beautiful my name is. Thank heavens my parents didn't decide on Amanda as originally discussed." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Dec 18, 2008: "Our little daughter will be called Emelia Faith. She'll be here in four months and is named after her great-grandmother even though the spelling is different (Emilia).... we just love the name :)" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Nov 21, 2008: "that's the name of my daughter i got it from princess diares i fell in love with it and said once i get pregnant i would name my princess EMELIA RENIECE BENNETT" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Nov 14, 2008: "Yup my name is Emelia & I love. My friends call me EM! I just hate that I always have to correct people . ." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Sep 19, 2008: "My name is also Emelia, ive never met anyone with the same spelling. It seems as though never ever remembers my name and i am constantly reminding them, which is really annoying. My nickname is Mil. Which is slightly strange! I live in Melbourne, Australia" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Sep 18, 2008: "EMELIA is the name of my daughter - she is 2 months old. :) My MIL, who has passed, had a dream about her and so far it has come true - her dark hair and blue eyes, and her favorite name was Emily, so in honor of her, we named her Emelia. It is so classic and everyone LOVES her name and thinks it is so so beautiful." (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Sep 12, 2008: "Im called Emelia but u dont say it like Amelia! like many people say lol :D" (Report as inappropriate)

  • Comment left Sep 02, 2008: "My 3 year old daughter is named Emelia. It's a beautiful name and I don't understand why people give their child this name and then call them Mia or Millie or whatever. If you wanted a child called Mia why didn't you just name them Mia!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Sep 02, 2008: "I named my daughter Emelia because my extended family has a thing for names that start with "E". We have Elisa, Elena, Eva, Elizabeth, Emily, Esther, Erin, Evangelic, Emerald and Emeri. So when my daughter was born I was having trouble finding another unique name that started with "E". I wanted either Emma or Emmy but my husband didn't like either. We agreed on Emelia, I liked it bacause I could get away with calling her either. It's the perfect name for her i just hope I don't have anymore girls because I'm offically out of names!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Sep 01, 2008: "We named our daughter Emelia (we call her Lia for short, but also her more formal name, too) after my grandmother and great, great grandmother from Germany Emilie, pronounced ahmeeleeyah i.e. like Amelia. It was my middle name and I always thought it was pretty since I was stuck with Mary and wanted my daughter to have it. It is nice for my daughter to have casual options and more formal Emelia. Lia has stuck with many family members. We hear both and that is just fine with us. She is beautiful!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Sep 01, 2008: "My wife and I just had a baby girl in April. her name is Emelia Marie. When people ask me, I say Emelia. "Amelia?" No no, Eeeemelia. "Oh, that's awesome!"" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 21, 2008: "we named our daughter Emelia because I wanted a different spelling like my name and I think it is great to find others that spell it the same way...it is a rare name now a days and I wanted something that she would not be in class with a BUNCH of others with the same spelling~!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 13, 2008: "My name is Emelia! Ive only seen one person who has the exact same spelling as me." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Aug 12, 2008: "My name is Emelia and i was named after a great grandmother like so many people. I go by Mimi with friends generally, and a thousand nicknames from that. Most people who call me Emelia are family, and thats sometimes just shortened to E. When i speak with older people i tend to introduce myself as Emelia, instead of explaining the nickname. I figure once i'm done with college i will go by Emelia. I have never ment anyone with the same spelling, but maybe 2 people named Amelia. It can get frustrating when people pronounce is with the A, or they read it out loud as Emily for whatever reason. I love my name though, its unique and always a conversation starter." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 23, 2008: "Its my name - i love it have met heaps of people thru work who are having or just had kids and have called them Emelia - its really pretty on certificates and is unique and perfect for me. My nicknames include Millie Emmy Em Mia and Leah (coz of the LIA at the end). Depends on who it is thats calling me i guess" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 09, 2008: "We named our daughter Emelia in 2002. It is similar to Emelio (boy) and Emily (girl). Her middle name is Mae - where we go EM-MA her nickname. We pronounce it Em-e-lee-uh. We loved the name Emma but it was very popular. We thought she could use either her full name to be different or a nickname. I've met one other Emelia and several Amelia's." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 06, 2008: "my name is emelia and it is so cool! everytime i meet someone i have to sa e-meila. its so annoying sometimes but ive got used to it. in my form (tutorial) there is also an a-melia so people get confused with that aswell!" (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 03, 2008: "Oh, not sure if you've noticed, but Emelia is showing up more and more. I've seen it with animation characters and baby crib sets for girls. It's just as pretty as Amelia. Name variations are typical as a way to distinguish it for one reason or another...pronunciation is usually the reason. For instance Alisha is the same as Alicia. But I've also heard Alicia pronounced A-lee-cee-a." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jul 03, 2008: "We named our daughter Emelia and we love it. Right now we call her Mia for short. (That's an actual nickname for Amelia as well). We loved the names Emily and Emma but those are the 2 most popular names in the book. We felt she deserved something more unique. We feel it is classy and elegant. She will be known as Mia as a child with the option of being called Emelia as an adult." (Report as inappropriate)

Comment left Jun 23, 2008: "It looks like someone didn't know how to spell Amelia." (Report as inappropriate)
